GSeven's 5-Step Migration Methodology
Every migration follows the same proven process — refined across dozens of Tally-to- ERPNext migrations. No shortcuts, no surprises.
Data Audit & Pre-Migration Assessment
Before we move anything, we study your Tally data thoroughly — identifying data quality issues, reconciliation gaps, and decisions needed before migration begins.
- Review your current Tally company structure and chart of accounts
- Identify ledger duplicates, inactive accounts, and unreconciled entries
- Assess transaction volume and data migration scope
- Define the migration cutoff date and scope with your team
- Identify any Tally customisations (TDL) that need ERPNext equivalents
ERPNext Setup & Master Data Configuration
While we clean and prepare your Tally data, we simultaneously configure your ERPNext environment — so the migrated data lands in a properly structured system.
- Configure Chart of Accounts mirroring your Tally structure
- Set up company, fiscal year, currency, and tax settings
- Configure GST rates, TDS settings, and India compliance
- Set up warehouses, cost centres, and departments
- Configure user roles and access permissions
Master Data Migration & Validation
All master records are migrated first and validated before any financial data moves. This is the foundation of a clean migration.
- Migrate Customer masters (name, GSTIN, address, credit terms)
- Migrate Supplier masters with PAN, GSTIN, payment terms
- Migrate Item masters (products, services, units, tax categories)
- Migrate Employee masters (for payroll migration if applicable)
- Validate all migrated records against Tally — count and data match check
Opening Balances & Parallel Run
Opening balances are entered and reconciled in ERPNext. Then both systems run simultaneously — giving your team time to validate and build confidence.
- Enter opening balances for all GL accounts as of cutoff date
- Reconcile opening Trial Balance — ERPNext vs Tally must match to the rupee
- Migrate outstanding debtors and creditors as of cutoff
- Begin parallel run — new transactions entered in both systems
- User training conducted during this period on live ERPNext data
- Your team validates day-to-day reports between systems
Go-Live & Post-Migration Support
Your team is trained, the data is verified, and both systems have run in parallel successfully. Time to go live on ERPNext. Tally is archived — never deleted.
- Final cutover date decided with your leadership team
- ERPNext becomes your primary system — Tally enters read-only mode
- GSeven provides 30-day intensive post-go-live support
- Tally data archived securely — accessible at any time for audit or CA queries
- Handover of documentation, user manuals, and video training library

Answers to the Questions That Keep You Up at Night
We've heard every migration concern. Here's how we handle each one.
"What if my data doesn't match after migration?"
We run a full Trial Balance reconciliation before go-live. ERPNext and Tally must match to the rupee on every GL account. If anything is off by even ₹1, we find and fix it before proceeding. You get a signed-off reconciliation statement from our team.
"We can't afford business disruption during migration"
The parallel run period (2–4 weeks) means business never stops. Your team continues in Tally while they learn ERPNext. Cutover happens over a weekend or a pre-planned quiet period — your choice.
"Our CA uses Tally — they won't switch"
Your CA doesn't have to switch. Many clients keep Tally running for their CA's compliance work while the business operations move to ERPNext. GSeven manages both systems. Your CA is never disrupted.
"My team is comfortable with Tally — they'll resist ERPNext"
Change resistance is real and we respect it. Our training is role-based and hands-on — accountants learn only the accounting screens, warehouse staff learn only inventory screens. Nobody is overwhelmed with the full system at once.
"What if we need to go back to Tally?"
We never delete your Tally data. Your Tally installation and all data are preserved in archive mode throughout and after the migration. If you ever need to reference historical data, run an audit, or revert — everything is available.
"Hidden costs will appear during migration"
GSeven provides a fixed-scope, fixed-price migration quote after the initial assessment. The scope is clearly documented — what gets migrated, what doesn't, and what the timeline is. No surprises.
