How e-invoicing will change the operations & GST compliance of small businesses?

Recently, The Government of India announced the implementation of the fifth phase of e-invoicing in India from October 1, 2022. Taxpayers who have a turnover between Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore are required to submit e-invoices of their orders to the government on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP).

 In return, the taxpayers will receive a signed QR code along with a Unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN). E-invoices of such small businesses will automatically be filled in the GSTR-1 at the end of the tax period.

What does the lowering of the tax threshold from rs 20 crore to rs 10 crore signify?

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified this change in tax threshold has been done to make sure that all the data of the Taxpayers get regulated by the government and higher compliance can be achieved.
